Creative Solutions

What do we mean by ‘creative solutions’?  Well, by their very nature they do not fit neatly into a box.  So it’s not so much a ‘thing’ as an approach, a way of looking at the world, one that helps you and us to think around an issue or challenge, to find a good outcome.

There are many examples of ‘creative solutions’ we have used with individuals and organisations.  Some of them may not seem very startling – in fact, they’re not.  Why?  That’s because the best solutions are often the simplest ones.

To give you an idea what we mean:

  • One client was totally bogged down, could not see the wood for the trees.  We reorganised the way they ran their office, which gave them the headroom to tackle the other challenges in their busy life.  We have also reorganised aspects of clients’ home lives so that they can get a better work-life balance;
  • We have sometimes gone into a client’s organisation and worked there ourselves for a time, perhaps to fill an immediate gap but more likely to start a process of renewal, change or redesign before handing over to an internal staff member to take the work forward to completion.  That way, the client gets things moving quickly but does not lose ownership of the work.
  • Other clients have wondered whether the service their organisation gives is as good as they believe it is.  A little simple ‘mystery shopping’ can tell a different story from the one their data suggests and enables the client to see a different perspective on their offering;
  • Sometimes, clients just need someone to organise a couple of workshops for their key people, with expert input, to jack up the performance of a team or department or whole organisation.  It might be about managing stressful situations, conflict, or time.  It might be ‘how to write a good report’ or how to manage your boss.  It could be all sorts of things;

Two important points to emphasise here:

First, if you engage the work-life partnership we will always start by taking a fresh look at your situation.  Forgive us, but we do not think clients always have the clearest picture of the real issue.  Of course, you know your business far better than we ever will, but can you see the underlying issue and do you have a clear perspective on the action which will produce the best results?

Second, we sometimes work with carefully chosen associates; people we know can add real value, people who think the same way we do.  This gives our small business greater strength and depth, without carrying a huge overhead which you would have to pay for.
