Life Coaching and Executive CoachingWhat is coaching? Coaching is about enabling clients to make decisions that will improve their life. It is a means by which people can identify and achieve their goals, more quickly and effectively than any other. Why does anyone need coaching? Most of us, at some time in our work or personal lives, find that we have lost our way a little, become bogged down in the here and now, unable to clearly see the way forward. Everyone needs a help from time to time, no matter how effective they have been in the past. Coaching is effective for all situations, whether in personal life, career, corporate and business life. It is different to training. It develops rather than imposes, reflects rather than directs. Coaching is reactive, flexible and enabling, not prescriptive or instructional. Coaching can be really valuable for many different reasons, such as:
Most life coaching and some executive coaching are conducted on the telephone. For several reasons coaching is just as effective over the telephone as it is face-to-face. In fact, many clients prefer to work this way. This makes the process very convenient for both coach and client, and it offers greater flexibility for people with a busy life. Coaching using the telephone offers other obvious advantages:
When we work with clients, we use a structured approach that helps to get people thinking along the right track. Usually this starts with a stock take of their present position and maybe some diagnostic work to provide good data about current behavioural preferences or personality traits to help chart the way forward. A coaching session is typically an hour. We also work with workplace teams, to provide individual and team performance assessment, feedback and developmental coaching.
